The most commonly used volume screening methodology for drug abuse is called the NIDA-5 (National Institute on Drug Abuse). The test detects trace metabolites of Cannabinoids, Opiates, Amphetamines, Cocaine and Phencyclidine (PCP). The most common collection medium is urine. Samples are put through a rigorous testing regimen with a strong 'chain of custody' and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). After a number of immunoassay based tests such as solid phase extraction, samples are analyzed via gas chromatography - mass spectrometry (GC-MS) methodology.
For over 20 years, Tomtec pipette Workstations has been a mainstay in drug testing labs throughout North America. Our PSID-2 ensures chain of custody is maintained as samples are reformatted from the collection vial to a screw-top cryovials to 96 well assays. Our fourth generation Quadra4 liquid handling workstation packs a lot of utility into a small 30" footprint with a suite of features that makes it the platform of choice for volume drug testing worldwide.
