Tomtec's ThinLids® provide a means of sealing a microplate and then pipetting thru the seal. The special seal material has a pressure sensitive adhesive. It bonds the ThinLid® to the plate. A small cross hair slit is located over each of the 96 wells. This allows all 96 Quadra tips to enter the wells simultaneously to aspirate or dispense reagents. As the tips leave the plate, the elasticity of the special seal material brings the slits back to their closed position. Repeated pipette steps may be made in and out of the plate, although there is some loss of closure after multiple entries.

For use on the Quadra96®, a special nest is required to retain the plate as the tips withdraw.
